ALSI : BALYA & MEDHYA

Hi Guys, I think you must be knowing about these brown and golden seeds known as Alsi or Teesi. Also called Flaxseeds or Linseeds having many medicinal properties and as I say it is easy to find in your kitchen. In Ayurveda it is known for its distinctive attribute for Balya health (Immunity Booster) & Medhya health (Brain Booster). 

It is rich in Fiber, carbohydrate, Protein and Minerals and can be added to various common foods in roasted form.

It is an anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial in nature, So it can be used as an additive in most of the beauty products for skin and hair growth.

Though it can not be consumed alone due to its Guru Nature which means heavy to digestion. So, it should be used in grounded form and added or mixed with other common food or can be sprinkled in water and salad.






You may infact replace it with fish if you are a vegetarian for plant based Omega-3. 

ALA  in flaxseeds is one of the essential fatty acids that you have to obtain from the food as your body can not produce it. Lignans present in these seeds has powerful anti-oxidant and estrogen properties which helps you prevent breast and prostate cancer.

The soluble dietary fiber around 20-40% present in flaxseeds helps regulate blood sugar and lower cholesterol. The insoluble fiber helps binding more water to the it which results in softer stools and regular bowel movement. Flaxseeds have been proven to lower blood pressure.

These tiny seeds brings about the feeling of fullness which results in eating less in the next meal helps in reducing weight.

Tips for adding flax seeds in your diet :
  
a)  Always use ground flax seeds.

b) You may use flax seeds oil in salad dressing.

c) It can be added in favorite smoothie.

d) Flax seeds can be eaten in empty stomach followed by a glass of  hot water.

e) You should not consume more than 2 table spoon of in a day. If you are using more amount of it than       better consult a dietician.



Wonder Mask made of Flaxseeds 


Almond and Flax seeds ubtan :

Keeping 1 table spoon of Masoor Dal as a base you can add 4 almond in one table spoon of  alsi seeds. Make a fine paste adding some water. You may also add Multani Mitti and some Haldi to it. Apply the Mask and leave for 15 min and pat dry followed with a moisturizer.

This face pack will tighten and firm your skin and is suitable for all skin types. It cleanses, exfoliates, brighten, de-tan and firm the skin. It may also pigmentation, pimples and its scars as well. It hydrates and delay the sign of aging.   



Hibiscus and Flax seeds Face Pack :

Make a fine paste of one hibiscus flower and 1 table spoon of Flax seeds with some curd, some sugar and sea salt. Apply on your face and neck and let it dry for 20 minute. Wash it off with normal water and follow with a moisturizer.




Flaxseed gel helps hair grow faster and longer by providing nourishment to the hair follicles. Vitamin-E present in Flax seeds provides nutrition to the scalp and reduces free radical damage.  






You may form Flax seeds Hair pack by adding 8 table spoon of unroasted flax seeds in 4 glass of water. you may also add 1 table spoon of Rosemary leaves. Heat at medium flame until its consistency becomes gel like. you can check the consistency when it looks slimy dripping from spoon. Strain the gel as quickly as you can by using a cloth or strainer and let it be cooled off. 

Wash your hair with a shampoo and remove excess water by using a microfiber towel and apply the mask from roots to ends. Wrap your hair for 10 minutes with a warm microfiber towel and let the mask penetrate in your scalp. Wash it off and let the hair dry naturally. You may also use hair serum of your choice.
